I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when the Buzz Mill opened up at Riverside and Town Creek a couple of months ago. We’ve been waiting years for a nice place in the 41 to meet a friend for a beer. Buzz Mill fits the bill. They have nice coffees and a good selection of craft brews as well as Hamm’s for those with a less demanding palate.
Out back is a lovely beer garden with stage and the Blue Ox Barbecue trailer. Grab an Anchor Steam or Deschutes brew. Then order up some ribs and/or pulled pork. They’re both great, but I’m especially fond of the ribs with a very tasty black pepper rub. As for sides. Beans are beans, but the German-style potato salad is something delightful.
All in all, I love this place. It’s close to my house and super cozy. But why in the hell are craft brews $5 a pop? That’s like San Francisco prices. Okay, they have a good happy hour from 5 to 8 pm, but seriously – this is East Riverside. We may be feeling like Brooklyn, but we’re not there yet. I’ll just say I would be a more frequent visitor to this neighborhood establishment if the the beer prices were a little more reasonable. Nonetheless, we’re happy to have the Buzz Mill in the 78741!
